Haven`t really connected with this blog space since the 3rd week on project and sooooo much has happened since we made our dream catchers.!
Jessica Reid came for a day & helped the older group make some beautiful lanterns for our proposed Lantern walk . I was busy with the younger group story telling and developing a shadow play. The experience of working with the young children and the story time with warm bee`s wax shaping little characters was an absolute treat for me.
After story time about a hedgehog not wanting to settle down for his winter sleep we brought out some black card and white pencils and made line drawings of our characters.
It was wonderful to see which character each child choose ; Erin a Mama Hedgehog, Rory a wise owl, Donal the hungry fox and Ain Mr Crow . The drawings were beautiful!
We then cut out our beautiful drawing and put them onto some willow sticks and where ready to become shadow puppeteers!!
The older group worked very hard building colourful lanterns with the moon. & stars and also created smaller lanterns for the younger group out of tin cans and coloured tissue paper.
We all came together and the group naturally fell into place the elder group guiding the younger towards a shadow play to present to the Mums, Dads and friends on the evening of our walk.
A fantastic and rewarding day for all.
