Day 3 - Collective Editors

We looked through the video work from the previous week and took a vote on what to do with it. We then proceeded as a group to edit the video. This was a lovely experience for me, having wanted to work with video with a group but never having had the faith that it would run smoothly. The children gathered around and looked through the various lengths of video we had taken, deciding through a voting system which to keep and edit and which to disregard. The kept footage was then either slowed, sped up or modified in some way if we thought that was needed.

We then considered sound based on a few suggestions; taking the time to decide what sounds would work and where in the video they should be placed. Recording as a group, we placed the sounds in the edited video piece.

By this time we had spent the whole morning on video editing and the children offered the opinion that we leave it aside until the next session and take up a more energetic activity.
