Group 2 Painting With Light

Description

First the children were invited to play with creating various shadow images of themselves on a screen created by simply hanging a screen across the space. Their ’audience’ on the other side of the screen applauded their attempts. Then they worked in pairs, with one participant invited to use the various found textured materials and coloured plastics provided on the overhead projector to change the colours on the screen for another’s shadow to interact with. Later we added music too to encourage their playing with their movements. Some children became very happily absorbed in creating these coloured everchangeable landscapes, and others enjoyed interacting with them with their own shadows.
