"I`ve been treated as an actor" - Participants` feedback from the National Youth Theatre

"The workshops we did over those two days were a pre-cursor to the weeks we had ahead. We focused on trust exercises, building shapes using our bodies, improvisations and different acting techniques. It didnt take long for me to become comfortable with the whole process because you need to be able to express yourself publicly and almost be vulnerable in front of everyone in order for the performance to work. I found it almost effortless to do so. Although it is an unspoken thing, there is a constant feeling of support running through the entire group.

NYT, itself, is an experience that was completely new for me. Although I had done workhsops in my own youth theatre that were similar to that of NYT, everything seemed more heightened!

We were working on a professional show and so everything we said or did was relevant. Even the smallest idea was welcomed as it could come to create something big! Ive been treated as an actor with the responsibility of making a character real, it was quite scary to start with but it was one of the things I was happy to step up to.

The fact that you have fifteen other people doing the same things as you, focuses the energy in the rehearsal room and allows us all bring out the best in ourselves."
