Day 3 School of the Holy spirit

Monday went to School of Holy Spirit, we went outside and did rubbings and messed around in that dome shaped tent that they have. The children enjoyed the freedom of this though sometimes this can lead to challenging behaviour, but the staff are so relaxed in their ways of dealing with this it is hardly noticeable. The children just got on with the rubbings and then enjoyed finding what they like and drawing that. We went into the dome and some children and SNa`s went outside so we could see the silhouettes they made.

We have decided to do a large wall hanging for the senior entrance hall. I showed the children how to do screen printing and we will incorporate this into our finished piece. We got 2m of cotton which I soaked in Soda Ash at home and then I with the help off the students worked a dove from their logo in wax on the middle of this and I took it home to dye there.

I also took home the Tshirts to Fix the dye as they were not pre-soaked. I am a bit worried about them as they are not all pure cotton!!! fingers crossed they will not run away when I wash them!

Next week we hope to look at silhouettes and shadows to link in with the stencils for the screen printing.
