Craft in the Classroom at Scoil Bhrid Naofa, Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim
Created 2009-02-11 by Ester Kiely
Location: Rural - Co. Leitrim
Duration: 2009-02-11 to 2009-05-06
Project Outline
The project is sponsored by the Crafts Council of Ireland to place an an artist into a school to work with children over approx 14 contact hours.
As a textile artist my aim is to introduce fabric, fibre and stitch to the children as a means of creative expression. I hope to touch on as many strands of the visual arts curriculum as possible (fabric & fibre, colour, construction, drawing, printing, etc).
I also hope to create spin-offs for the class to research in other areas of the curriculum (local history, presentation skills, maths, language, personal development, etc).
Although we will focus on the creative process I am hoping it will result in a piece of art for the classroom that reflects the children`s personalities and displays their new-found textile skills.
