Per cent for art Aston Village Per Cent for Art Project
Created 2013-10-02 by maree hensey
Location: Drogheda - Co. Louth
Duration: 2013-10-02 to 2014-06-30
Project Outline
Mark and I propose to create an iconic and contemporary, permanent artwork which:
· Is informed by the ethos of the school, child centred, co-educational, multi-denominational and democratically run.
· Symbolically represents Aston Village ETNS its vibrancy, energy and commitment to the values of creativity, authenticity, diversity and inclusiveness.
· Represents the concept “ No child an outsider”
· Is child centred.
· Has a strong sense of ownership.
· Is inspired by the concept of discovery.
· Engages the senses.
· Provides children of all ages with innovative ways of seeing, hearing, experiencing and thinking about the world around them.
The external artwork will be a permanent feature, a point of reference, a positive visual marker, a trigger for further activities, and a reminder to the children of Aston Village ETNS the fruits of working together. By involving the children in the development and production of work we hope to bring a sense of ownership to the pieces produced and the resulting art work will become an integral part of Aston Village ETNS identity for the future.
