Sock Safari

The Safari Sock Performance trail was comissioned by the Dun Laoghaire Festival of World Cultures as part of  "Great Explorations! Around the world in one day!" . This was the theme of an adventure packed program which filled the People´s Park on the Festival Sunday.

Twenty children were invited to become young explorers: equipped with a sock puppet each , they embarked on an interactive one hour journey around the world- led by two curious explorers (puppeteer Anna Rosenfelder, musician Eoin O Brien ) and a courageous Sock Puppet .

Inspired by the locations in people´s park (Bandstand, Bengal Tiger tent, African Plains Picnic area, Anatarctic Explorer´s tent), the expedition featured a number of challenges and adventures: the group climbed up mount Everest, escaped a furocious Bengal Tiger, learned a hungarian folk dance , listened to an african tale and made their way through a self-made tunnel to anarctica and a final penguins´dance.
