Cois na Coille : Beside the Wood

Based in West Cork, ‘Fun with Glass’ is a progressive artist in school project which partners teachers and artists through training and brings the experimental use of fused glass and metalwork into National Schools.

 Scoil Fionnbarra in Ballingeary, Macroom, County Cork has been working closely with two artists Marie Brett and Gana Roberts on a 6 week school project titled: ‘Cois na Coille : Beside the Wood’, inspired by a poem by Maurice Riordan the art project interprets the school’s local natural environment and offers cross-curricular opportunities in: SPHE, Science, English, Maths, History, Geography and Music.

A mentoring programme is built into the project in association with West Cork Arts Centre. Key project partners are West Cork Education Centre and Cork County Council Arts office.
