Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is seeking expressions of interest from professional Visual Arts Learning Curators who have experience in creating opportunities for the general public to engage with artworks and exhibitions and wish to partner with dlr Arts Office to apply for the Arts Council’s Visual Arts Curator Residency Scheme. dlr Arts Office wish to make an application in response to the Arts Council’s call for Visual Arts Curator Residency Scheme focussing on the development of dlr’s Municipal Gallery Learning Programme for 2016. We are looking for a Visual Arts Learning Curator to develop this application in partnership with dlr Arts Office.* Our objectives in response to the Visual Arts Curator Residency Scheme are to offer a Visual Arts Learning Curator the opportunity to research and develop their practice, while developing a year-long work programme in partnership with dlr Arts Office, selected artists and curators. The specific content of the work programme will be designed by the Curator in collaboration with dlr Arts Office, offering opportunities to respond to, and lead where appropriate, the dlr Municipal Gallery Exhibition Programme for 2016/2017.

– Curriculum Vitae with relevant experience clearly outlined.
– A statement of interest (max 2 x A4 pages) which outlines your interest in this Curator opportunity. It must also detail the relevance to your current practice and future development.
– 3 relevant examples detailing how you created opportunities for the general public to engage with the visual arts.
– Two referees related to relevant curatorial experience.
Summary Timeline:
Application deadline: Thursday 6th August by 12 noon.
Successful Curator informed by: Tuesday 11th August
Application development: 14th August – Friday 4th September
Deadline for Arts Council Opportunity: Thursday 10th September
*The successful applicant will receive a fee for this development research
Selection Criteria:
Experience of programming public engagement events/projects which increase participation in the visual arts for the general public (Marks will be awarded out of 65)
Quality of relevant previous work (Marks will be awarded out of 35)
Selection panel will comprise of dlr Arts Office staff and peer selector(s).
