The Waterford Healing Arts Trust (WHAT) invites artists of all arts disciplines to apply for its 2014 Artist in Residence programme. The successful artist will engage part of the patient population of the hospital in a collaborative arts project leading to a public presentation in Waterford Regional Hospital. He / she will also link into the WHAT Artist on Call programme that brings arts experiences to the bedside of patients upon request of the patient.
WHAT has been running an Artist in Residence programme since 1994 as a means of engaging hospital users in contemporary art practice and offering opportunities to emerging artists for professional development within a healthcare context. See http://www.artsandhealth.ie/case-studies/waterford-healing-arts-trust-artist-in-residence-programme/ for more information on this programme.
The successful artist will receive a studio space for a six month period in the WHAT Centre for Arts and Health, a bursary and production budget and support from WHAT staff. The closing date for applications is Friday, 7 March 2014 at 2pm.
