Sticky Fingers Festival 2011:
A Celebration of Arts for Early Years [October 1-31]
The Sticky Fingers Festival runs right through the month of October and coincides with Newry City’s inaugural Children’s Month.
There will be offerings from local theatre companies including Cahoots NI, Branar Theatre and Cups and Crowns to storytelling by Scottish performers Becky Sik and Rosie Gibson and Northern Irish author Colin Bateman to interactive performances by some of the most renowned early years theatre groups from across the globe.
Other events include birthday parties for rabbits (The Paper Washi Wish), singing in the swimming pool (The Incredible Singing Choir), traditional Irish stories (Clann Lir - The Children of Lir) or whimsical Paul Klee inspired visuals (Dot).
There will also be workshops throughout the month, including lantern making, pumpkin picking and Bounce, a fun and messy visual arts workshop.
As well as the many performances and workshops available to schools throughout the Festival, this year Sticky Fingers are also delighted to welcome some very special guests from Pittsburgh, USA. Dancer, masquerade costumer and bead artist Celeta Hickman and contemporary jazz musician Kenny Blake will be visiting schools and venues across the city.
Tickets for workshops and performances will range from £1.50 to £5.00. There are offers for schools and play groups, plus opportunities for parents & grandparents to attend some shows for free.
