This panel offers opportunities for peer networking and working in collaboration with children and teachers. DLR primary schools programme has been in place since 1994 and has been developed constantly with the aid of the artists panel. DLR are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and skilled artists to join the team.
Creative Classrooms is a DLR Arts programme for primary school children. In partnership with Blackrock Education Centre, the programme ensures best practice is adhered to, that duplication of arts provision within the primary school sector in DLR is kept to a minimum and that the programme is developed in a strategic and informed way. Particular emphasis is placed on supporting the teacher through this programme, as well as fostering and harnessing opportunities for children to problem solve, and think critically and creatively - thereby becoming innovative, enterprising and equipped for their futures.
DLR are looking for artists who:
Can demonstrate a high level of engagement with children through their visual arts practice.
Are highly skilled and experienced in their chosen medium.
Are interested in peer mentoring with artists to develop this area of practice.
Have a working knowledge of process-based methodologies.
Please apply in writing and include 3 hard copies of the following:
Curriculum Vitae and documentation of previous collaborative work with children.
Two referees (must be related to collaborative practice specifically with children)
Statement outlining your interest in Creative Classrooms and relevance of programme to your work to date.
