Project Outline
‘Developing Diversity in Performance Music Education in Ireland’ is a two-year research project (conducted in partnership between Music Generation and St. Patrick’s College Drumcondra) which I am currently conducting with Dr. Patricia Flynn (Principal Investigator). This research investigates the richness and diversity of Music Generation’s performance music education provision for children and young people across the country. It is being conducted in partnership between Music Generation and St. Patrick’s College Drumcondra. The purpose of the research is to examine the different ways in which Music Generation helps children and young people access vocal and instrumental music education in their local area that is high quality, includes different types of music, and supports equal access. In particular, the research investigates how this type of music education is meaningful and has a transformative impact on the lives of children and young people.
