Interactive Storytelling Sessions
Created 2003 by Niamh Lawlor
Duration: 2003 to
Project Outline
A series of performances, using puppets and usually elements of improvisation to encourage children to participate in or respond to Story telling and making. This arose from my StoryLab research begun during a residency on the Irish Museum of Modern Art’s Artists’ Work Programme in 2003-4 were I worked with various groups including visitors to the museum and children from Rutland Street Pre-school. Primarily I use two characters: Mary Mary / Mamó and Storybear / Scéalaí Bhéar depending on whether I am working in irish or english or bi-lingually. Mary Mary / Mamó is a table-top puppet of a woman born in 1916, and Storybear / Scéalaí Bhéar is simply a teddybear that I animate like a puppet.
