Background
For the last twenty years I have worked on numerous creative collaborative projects with young people and children. As well as being a professional artist and filmmaker, I am a qualified youth worker and this training has been hugely beneficial in my work.
I worked as film maker in residence with Kerry, Cork, Limerick and Kildare County Councils. In 2009 I set up `The Happy Artist`, a creative arts project in Ballybunion, Co. Kerry www.thehappyartist.ie

.Professional Statement
I believe that art provides young people with a critical opportunity to express themselves and that this is particularly important for children who find themselves marginalized within mainstream society and education.
In all projects collaborative projects I see myself more as a creative facilitator, than a leader. There is always a two way process of sharing and learning. I feel this is core to the way I work and that it gives young people a real sense equality and ownership over their work. We always negotiate a contract at the start of a project so that they feel it is a safe environment to express themselves.
I believe strongly in the power of art to create positive social change and love the quote: You must be the change you wish to see in the world" (Mahatma Gandhi)
