Professional Statement
I am an art teacher, facilitator and artist based in the North West of Ireland. In addition to teaching Sculpture and Work Experience on the PLC in Art and Design, Sligo, I also work with a variety of community groups in different contexts. I am currently employed by the HSE`s Artist in Mental Health Programme and I also work on various Arts and Health residencies with Sligo Arts Service.
My community arts practice informs my artistic practice. I have recently completed a 1.5 year artist initiated collaborative project with an artist with learning disabilities. The work we made in the project will be exhibited at Teach ban Nua Gallery in February 2010.
My own practice is drawing and sculpturally based. I work from photographs using drawing and mixed media in a process-based approach.
