June '09 - Sharon Kelly

Sharon Kelly at work with group of students on MultiMedia Maps Project
Sharon Kelly has a long-standing studio practice based in Paragon Studios Belfast and has also been teaching, collaborating on and leading projects with groups of varying ages since the mid-nineties, including two projects with Kids' Own Publishing Partnership and collaborations with dance company Maiden Voyage Director Nicola Curry.
Her practice is strongly based in drawing and has, for the last number of years, also incorporated video work. While her studio work is of a personal nature and separate to her work with groups, she sees the overall process as cyclical and mutually beneficial. She speaks about embarking on the unknown as an artist working with a group, about collaboration, sensitivity and trusting your instincts.
