Paul Butler- artist & collaborator talking at Context Gallery, Derry

I saw Paul Butler talk at The Context Gallery in Derry yesterday. He and several other artists were participating in The Collage Party... There was a mess of materials, magazines, scissors, tape and glue. My favourite surprise was finding a bag of googly eyes. There was also comfy spaces to sit, a foozball table and a stage in the corner.

140 character interview with James R Ford on using Twitter creatively

For the upcoming session in Roscommon, I'll be talking about how artists can use a 'Small Pieces' approach to developing an online presence that is cost and time effective.

But that all sounds so... businessy. I wanted to locate artists who are using various services creatively, and I've located a number of artists using Twitter.

I decided to interview artist James R. Ford about his use of Twitter, (see @JamesRFord ).

Hair cuts by children in Derry 27-28 June

This tickles my brain :) Mammalian Diving Reflex, an art group from Canada stages "Atypical encounters by people who wouldn't normally be together." So funny, I would love to go. I can imagine there's alot of people in Derry very fashion conscious. I wonder who will take up the offer and the results. The notion of losing control is funny.

Using Twitter as an Artist

Twitter is a service to post brief updates called tweets. It’s both for publishig and for conversation. The resulting stream of consciousness and real-time search flows endlessly. Think of Twitter as a river, and dip into it once in a while and enjoy the conversation. It’s impossible to ever catch up on it all, and when it’s over, it’s over.

This brief guide is meant to give the basic introduction into what Twitter is, and how it could help the artists on Practice.ie to promote their work, and make professional connections.

Making a Good Artist Video for Vimeo (part 2)

I wanted to write about how great Vimeo is for artists, but I found I had so much to say. This is part 2 of 3 parts.

See Part 1: Why Vimeo is the best place for artists.

See Part 3: Connecting with artists through Vimeo

Truth is, making a good video takes some expertise. But expertise is a reflection of practice. The principles of taking good video are easy to understand.
